Wildling Sessions :: May Pt. 2

I am so fortunate that these sessions have become something more than a simple photo opportunity. Whether they be friends or strangers, I share something in common with each of these woman and that is that we are all mothers.

The lessens I learn from each mother, by listening and observing has had such a profound impact on me. I am so inspired in this work and hope to continue these sessions until the end of my days. It truly is a gift.

With love, Chels.

“I always knew I wanted to be a Mom. Then I got pregnant, and I was SO ready. Except I wasn’t. Nothing could have prepared me for how it would feel. Motherhood has been the wildest, most terrifying journey I have ever experienced, and yet every second is undeniably worth it. I am amazed every day by just how smart, sweet and lovable this precious little girl is, and I feel so blessed to have been given the privilege of being her Mommy. In my heart of hearts, I believe she is why I am here on this earth, my purpose, and I am so very lucky.”

“Motherhood is personal. It’s full of experiences from the long days that turn into quick years. It’s full of slobbery kisses, endless giggles and wild adventures.  It’s also full of tantrums, tears, messes and sleepless nights. As a mother though, you get to choose what you savour (and what you don’t) and you get to make it your own.
Motherhood is hard. It’s a journey of self discovery. It’s finding the strength and patience you have, but didn’t know existed. It’s teaching your children but allowing yourself to learn from them as well. It’s self-sacrificing. It’s an ever changing challenge, full of ups and downs. It’s loving unconditionally. Always and forever. And if you are lucky (like I am) you will have had a wonderful mother who bestowed upon you these lessons.
When I look at Leland and Nolan, I am reminded of the love I have for their father, my husband.  Together, we brought these two beautiful boys into the world. And they have forever changed us.  I am grateful to be their mama. I know when I look back at these early days of motherhood, all I will remember is how wonderful they were. Because they truly are amazing.”

“Becoming a mother has been the hardest and most profoundly beautiful experience of my life. The early days of motherhood with Everly brought on so many extreme emotions, both of the high and low variety,  and revealed a raw, unconditional, never ending kind of love. Motherhood is something I always knew I wanted, but never realized how incredible a journey it would be and to be honest I am still figuring it all out. There is not a day that passes where I don’t question myself as a mother, but I could not be more grateful to have the opportunity to experience being a Mama.

I am both anxious and excited to watch my love grow and adapt as we welcome our newest addition. In the meantime I hope to savour these precious moments, just Evie and I, because if there is one thing any Mama knows it is how fleeting time can be with this whole world!”

* Rachel and Kaitlyn are sisters so we were able to capture a few of their collective [growing] family between sessions and this one turned out wonderfully, wouldn’t you agree? With Love and Wild Photography - WILDLING SESSIONS

EMILY // Ozzy, Leo & Lola

“There is no love like the love shared between a mother and her children. It is so wonderful and special, but also scary and nerve-wracking. It’s so hard knowing you cant shield your children from everything and that no matter how hard you try – they will fall and get hurt. But as a mother, my job is to love them no matter what, protect them as much as I can and always be a safe place for them to come back to. And knowing that is my responsibility is sometimes very overwhelming but something I take such pride in.”

Wildling Sessions:: April Pt. 2

One major reason why I love these sessions so much is that they allow me to peek inside other mothers’ relationships with their children, and more specifically, the varying relationships within one family.

Some of the kids on Sunday stuck close to their mums while others were quite literally bouncing off the walls. Each child has a special, unique place in the hearts of their mamas and the proof is right here in these photographs.

“It is so hard to put into words what it’s like to be a mother, because the experience truly encompasses all of life’s emotions. Although I’ve lost years worth of sleep and worry about them far too much, Gwyneth and Oliver have shown me how simple and unconditional love can be and have reminded me that every day is an adventure. To watch them grow into the creative, hilarious and thoughtful people they are, has been the greatest of gifts.”

“Becoming a mother to our Benjamin has been my most rewarding experience yet. He brings me so much joy and happiness every single day, that it’s hard to remember what life was like before him. I love watching him grow and am constantly fascinated as his amazing personality shines through more and more. You enter parenthood without instructions and do the best you can do. I’m bound to make mistakes along the way, but one thing I’m sure of is that no matter what, I will love and protect my son with all of my being. This is my greatest role, to be a mother, and so far, I am loving every minute of it.”

“Motherhood encompasses almost every emotion possible. Somedays are a lot of hard work. Somedays are really easy.  Together, it’s the perfect balance.  This little boy shows you exactly how he’s feeling all of the time. With every protest as you leave the room, to the sincere joy he expresses when you return. It’s so pure and rewarding. Every smile, every laugh, every tear, every cuddle, every time he learns something new, I just want to squeeze him. Our adventure is just beginning and already my heart is so full. I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

“Motherhood is a gift to any one who is fortunate enough to experience it. Taking care of these tiny humans we created , grew and birthed. I feel so grateful to have given them life. These tiny little people who depend on you… I melt with every hug, kiss and squeeze. Motherhood really is everything.”

“Beautiful and crazy, it is. Motherhood, to me, is endless, unconditional, pinch yourself love. I’ve always wanted to be a mother. As far as I can remember to my early childhood years, I would play “house” and would have many, many children. You know, when you’re younger you plan how many children you will have, maybe 2 girls and a boy or 2 boys and a girl, or one of each. You picture your life and you think it will just happen. Motherhood is unpredictable. Before my girls were even born, I think they chose me. They knew I needed them and they needed me. I was meant to be a mother to my four daughters. I ooze pride each day watching them blossom, watching them struggle and watching them succeed. Motherhood is a huge responsibility, to raise genuine, kind, loving little humans. Motherhood is your heart walking around outside of yourself. It is wild, dramatic and crazy, it is tender and sweet. It is fairy princesses, endless pink, tutus and twirls. Motherhood gives me goosebumps and grey hairs and I wouldn’t change it for anything. My daughters are my lifes greatest blessings and my best friends forever. Our life is perfectly imperfect  and that is perfect for us.”
